Let Cuba Live: Building the Future

Wednesday 12.06, 6:30 PM ET

Despite contributing the least to the climate crisis, the Caribbean faces its harsh realities, such as rising sea levels, increased hurricane frequency, loss of coral reefs, etc. Cuba, which is responsible for only 0.08% of global CO2 emissions, is disproportionately hard-hit by the effects of the climate crisis. In 2017, the Cuban government approved Tarea Vida (“Life Task”), its long-term plan to confront climate change.

The first half of the class will be dedicated to learning about Cuba’s Tarea Vida - its successes, it’s challenges and the urgency in which Cuba is responding to the climate crisis now.

The second half of the class will feature a panel of organizers, cultural workers, and community leaders as they share their insights from brigades to Cuba and their exchanges with the Cuban people, all united in the call to Let Cuba Live!
