CLASS 1Introduction to Imperialism: How Gaza Exposed America-First’s False Promises
Why do war and genocide continue regardless of what administration is in office? This session will give an understanding of the system of imperialism and how the need for endless profit accumulation and expansion explains the U.S.’s unconditional support for Israel. We will expose how many strands within the America-First coalition are doomed to fail due to their failure to grapple with the question of imperialism.
CLASS 2From Sovereign Nation to Client State: U.S. Imperialism in Egypt
How does the economic leg of US imperialism work to de-develop sovereign nations? In this session, we will study Egypt as an example of one of the many circumstances in which US imperialism used economic discipline to turn a sovereign nation into a client state in order to maintain US dominance. We will address the continued impacts of imperialism not only on Egypt’s economy, but also on Egypt’s political, cultural, and social developments, and what it means for liberation projects in the Middle East as a whole.
CLASS 3America’s War of Terror on Iraq
In 2003, the United States invaded Iraq, beginning a brutal occupation that killed over one million Iraqis and unleashed lasting instability across the Middle East. The war on Iraq was not just a contest over resources and security; it was a way for the US to systematically erode Iraq’s sovereignty and transform the country into a testing ground for future interventions in the region, from Libya to Gaza. This session examines how US imperialism destroyed Iraq in the name of the American capital and its Zionist allies, to the detriment of working people around the world.As the United States continues to escalate its efforts, roping the world into its campaign, it only becomes more urgent for us to deepen our understanding of China’s impact on the world, and of the purposes and future of U.S. hostility to China. How do we understand China’s development in the 21st century? What are the intricacies and purposes of the U.S. hostility to China, and what does it mean for China and the countries it is building relationships with? What should we anticipate, and how can we prepare for what may come next?
CLASS 4Imperialism and the Anti-War Struggle in the U.S
In this session, we will understand how imperialism is a system (not a policy) that not only impacts people in other parts of the world, but also leads to the subjugation, exploitation, and repression of working people in the US in order to maintain it. Internationalist struggle - rooted in anti-imperialism - is thus the best path forward for the global working class.
