SCIENCE AGAINST CAPITALISM: THE ROLE OF THE BIOPHYSICAL SCIENCES IN BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR ALL

Microbial ecologies and critical ecology

With Dr. Suzanne Pierre

The world is experiencing an increasing amount of climate-related disasters. However, time after time, the countries and communities contributing the least bear the brunt of the catastrophes. From June to October 2022, climate related flooding in Pakistan killed over 1700 people, and displaced millions. Within the U.S., people of color are disproportionately exposed to water and air pollution as compared to white communities. What are some of the invisible and unjust systems systems shaping our lives that have brought about the current environmental crises?

Join us for a seminar with Dr. Suzanne Pierre as we discuss critical and microbial ecologies and the relationship between human driven change and the environment.
