History is propelled by the struggle of our people across the world. In October of 2023 the Palestinian people defied the Israeli occupation and broke out of the world’s largest open-air prison. This latest chapter in the Palestinian liberation struggle reignited the spirit of internationalism, breathing new life into anti-colonial movements globally and ushering in a new era in the global fight for liberation against capitalism and imperialism. It was in this political moment that The People’s Forum chose to create the Marxism and National Liberation course, with the conviction that there is no better time to study the long history of people’s revolutionary movements than in the heat of the struggle itself. From Russia to Vietnam, from Cape Verde to Peru, this course will introduce the strategies, tactics, theories and proposals that have guided the oppressed of the world throughout history to stand straight in the face of their oppressors and charter a path to victory.
Marxism and National Liberation is for organizers, visionaries, and all students of history who are willing to take up the study of historical national liberation struggles to strengthen and advance our movements today! Once you’ve registered for the class, you should be able to access the Student Portal, where you will find 6 Modules that divide the course up–starting with an introduction to National Liberation and Marxism, and ending with what it would look like to begin to build a socialist future. Each Module tackles a particular aspect of Marxism National Liberation, providing you with a reading packet, a recording of the class session, and reflection questions to help you dive deeper into the ……. Some modules will also include suggested additional materials–articles, books, films–to help guide your study.
National liberation struggles ebb and flow, zig and zag, push and pull. In whichever context you find yourself in as you undertake this study, we hope that this course will help prepare you for what comes next, to navigate the heightening contradictions, and offer an orientation grounded in the revolutionary history of our people’s national liberation struggle
