SUMMER SCHOOL AT THE PEOPLE’S FORUM

2024 is a year on fire. An unprecedented mass movement for Palestine has taken the world by storm, igniting a profound shift in the consciousness of millions worldwide.  The US ruling class, desperate to maintain its hegemony, is struggling to fulfill its imperialist agenda as it enters a controversial election cycle in the midst of a serious political crisis.  The future is uncertain and volatile, with many dangers but also many opportunities for the working and oppressed class. 

One thing is certain– the people of the world demand change. The capitalist and imperialist system generates war and genocide, and we need a new system to take its place. But how does historical and societal change actually occur? How could a revolution take hold? What does it mean to be a revolutionary in times of intense political crisis? What is the project that we are building together, and how do we intervene in the current moment to take one step closer to its realization? How do we organize for revolution?

  • SPARK! Organizing for Revolution: Revolutionary Summer School @ TPF  is a six-week hybrid course for organizers, visionaries, and all who are committed to struggle to build a new world. Through bi-weekly classroom sessions, discussion, and developing a practice of revolutionary study, participants will develop their methodology to analyze the past and present, build capacity for organized struggle by studying examples of revolutionary processes around the world, and clarify a collective vision for the future. It’s a chance to meet new friends and comrades, exchange, study, discuss, and put theory into practice!

    This program is based on the methodology of popular and political education, and on the politics of working-class internationalism.

  • Everyone from all contexts, backgrounds, and identities is welcome to register!  Whether you're involved in existing organizations or seeking to deepen your knowledge of organizational theory and history in preparation to find a political home, this course is for you. There is a special track for organizations to take the course together and engage in collective study, discussion and exchange with other groups. If your organization is interested in this track, please email us at education@peoplesforum.org for more information. 

  • The summer school runs from July 9 to August 15. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM ET, with some exceptions. Participants with work/life schedules or based in time zones that preclude them from participating live will have access to the recordings and can follow the course at their own pace.

  • SPARK! Organizing for Revolution: Revolutionary Summer School @ TPF is a hybrid program that allows participation from anywhere worldwide. For those in the New York area, in-person classes are held at The People’s Forum, 320 W 37th Street, New York, NY 10018. To get to TPF, you can take the 1, 2, 3, 7, A, C, E, M, N, Q, R trains. TPF is an accessible building, with elevators and wheelchair-accessible gender-neutral bathrooms.  For participants who will be attending virtually, a zoom link will be sent prior to each session.

  • Register for the course here! The registration will remain open throughout the course but we encourage you to register as soon as possible to get all of the information before the start of the course and to get ready for this summer of study!
